Assistant Headteacher - SENCO job summary
Epping St John’s is a school on an upward trajectory. We are oversubscribed with waiting lists in every year group. Our Sixth Form sits in the top 1% nationally for progress. Outcomes are improving year on year. The culture is calm, expectations are high and our students are well behaved and proud of their school.
We are now seeking an exceptional Assistant Headteacher (SENCO) to lead inclusion at senior level.
This is not an operational SENCO post. It is a strategic leadership role with whole-school influence. You will shape and drive our SEND strategy, ensuring provision is precise, proactive and rooted in strong classroom practice. You will champion adaptive teaching, hold high expectations for vulnerable learners and ensure they thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
Inclusion at ESJ is central to our improvement journey. Attendance is rising. Suspensions have reduced significantly. Gaps between disadvantaged, SEND and their peers are narrowing. We want a leader who will take this further; someone strategic, resilient and uncompromising in their advocacy for young people.
We believe senior leaders should remain visible, credible and connected to the classroom.
We are proud to serve the community of Epping as a Church of England school rooted in strong values. As part of BMAT Education, we collaborate closely across schools to break down barriers and raise standards together.
We offer:
Enhanced and flexible PPA
Staff work-from-home sessions
Generous pension contributions
Private healthcare benefits
A strong wellbeing offer
Onsite parking with easy access from the M11, M25 and Central Line
If you are ready to lead inclusion in a school that is ambitious, improving and unapologetically focused on excellence, we would welcome your application.
