Assistant Headteacher - SENDCo & Inclusion job summary

Are you an aspirational leader looking for a new challenge?

Do you have a proven track record as an outstanding classroom practitioner?

Would you like to make a difference in a school with a strong and inclusive learning culture?

Required for January 2026 we are looking to appoint an exceptional, enthusiastic and dedicated professional, with drive and ambition, to join an experienced and effective leadership team.

The ideal candidate will play a full senior leadership role within the school with a particular whole school responsibility as SENDCo. A key responsibility will be to lead the experienced and cohesive Learning Support Team. The position provides an exciting opportunity in a school which is committed to high quality teaching and learning and student success. Building on the success of our longstanding reputation for inclusion, you will play a key role as we move to the next stage in our development to achieve even greater success.

With a proud history of a PNI Base having been on our site for several previous decades and with the more recent £1.4 million development of a Specialist Resource Provision at the school, we have the ambition to further develop as a centre of excellence. We have the capacity to be able to offer expertise and support to schools across our growing Multi Academy Trust (currently consisting of three schools, Bushey Meads School, Little Reddings Primary School and Hartsbourne Primary School) and the wider local area. We also want to develop, recruit and retain the highest calibre of staff who can work effectively to secure excellent progress for all our students, especially those on the wider SEND register at the school.

Bushey Meads School is a great place to work; we have strong links with local primary schools and good practice and ideas are shared across the Trust. Transport links are good with the M1, M25, A1 and A41 being close by and local bus routes are only a short walk.

Heavily subsidised childcare is offered as a package with all posts within the Trust. For more information about our BSJT Little Gems Day Care Nursery please contact Rachael Coombs, BSJT Business Manager, through the HR Team on 020 8955 8833.

Full details of the vacancy can be found on our website www.busheymeads.org.uk along with further information about the school. Alternatively, please contact the HR team on 020 8955 8833.

If you are interested in applying for this full time position, please send a completed application form along with a covering letter, to Mr J Turner, Executive Principal. Your completed application form and letter should be returned to the school by post or by email to: vacancies@busheymeads.org.uk by the deadline. Please note that CVs and late applications will not be accepted.

Interviews: Tuesday 13th October 2026

Successful candidates will be asked to return for a second day on: Wednesday 14th October 2026
