What skills and experience we're looking for

High quality Teaching and Learning is at the heart of our school and our shared goal is to make every lesson a great lesson. We want our students to enjoy learning, actively engage in the process and develop resilience when challenged. Much work has been done in recent years to outline our teaching and learning strategy and our shared understanding of the key principles and ingredients that constitute excellence in pedagogy. We are now looking for an exemplary leader who can continue to bring this work to life and ensure that our agreed teaching and learning principles permeate through every classroom every day.

You will be a strong curriculum leader or lead practitioner who has a deep understanding of what constitutes excellent teaching and learning. You will be passionate about improving the quality of education for all our students and their outcomes. You will have the skill and ability to enthuse teaching staff and develop a shared commitment amongst the staff body to delivering outstanding lessons. You will be able to demonstrate this through your own practice and the impact your work has had on improving examination outcomes. You will be working as part of a supportive and committed Senior Leadership Team and will bring clarity of vision and energy to this pivotal role. You will have the opportunities to work across all curriculum areas and in time offer your expertise across the Trust.

This is a warm and friendly school with a family feel where
each child is appreciated and cared for who they are, as well
as what they achieve and go on to become.

Being a smaller than average secondary school, our size is
definitely our strength. We pride ourselves on being a kind
and caring student focussed school, where every member of
staff makes it their business to get to know each child as
soon as they enter the Marlwood family.

Our pastoral care is second to none. Our dedicated pastoral
staff work very closely with students to understand their
needs and provide the very best support and care. After all,
happy children are more likely to be successful children!
Marlwood has recently received investment that is funding a
facelift of the school to include new classrooms for art,
design technology and science. The school also benefits
from expansive grounds including tennis courts, astro pitch
and a multi-purpose playing field. There is a real sense of
fresh air at the school!
