ASSISTANT MATHS HUB LEAD (SECONDARY)

Salary: this role is funded*

Time commitment: 1-2 days per week (term time only)

Start Date: 1st September 2025.

As the lead provider, The Alliance Schools Trust excited to have an opening to expand the leadership team of the Enigma Maths Hub. In the role, you’d join our Secondary team and become a member of the wider Enigma Maths Hub Leadership & Management team (MHLM), helping to fulfil our aims and vision for sharing best practice for teaching maths across the Enigma Hub region.

A bit about us:

The Enigma Maths Hub is one of a network of 40 Maths Hubs in England, supported by the Department for Education, and coordinated by the National Centre for Excellence in Teaching of Mathematics, committed to improving maths education for all students.

Enigma Maths Hub provides free and funded leadership and professional development activities across Milton Keynes, Bedford, Central Bedfordshire, West Northamptonshire, Luton and Aylesbury Vale. Through collaboration and innovation, we strive to achieve excellence in maths teaching and learning, fostering a future where every student can succeed in mathematics.

We have a vision to empower schools by providing specialist, collaborative support and action-based research to improve the enjoyment, engagement and achievement in mathematics for all. We have a team of Local Leaders of Maths Education (LLME) who work collaboratively, using their expertise and research based evidence to support schools in our region.

Teaching for mastery features prominently in the professional development opportunities for teachers, teaching assistants and maths leaders. We also provide a rich mix of other projects offering extended collaborative professional development activities across all phases from EYFS to Post 16.

About the role:

We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Secondary Assistant Maths Hub Lead, with a passion for mathematics education and a commitment to excellence, to join our team. This pivotal role focuses on leadership, and development of the teaching for mastery approaches. You will be working alongside our existing Secondary AMHL to lead the charge in transforming maths education for secondary schools across our region.

You will also be responsible for establishing/building/enhancing relationships with key stakeholders across the education landscape - including Local Authorities, professional networks, multi-academy trusts, the NCETM (National Centre of Excellence in Teaching Mathematics) and the national Maths Hub network.

* This role is fully funded by the Department for Education (DfE) – enabling release time from your current role, operating on a secondment basis. For an independent candidate, a suitable daily rate can be paid.
