Lunchtime Supervisor job summary
We are excited to offer an opportunity for a caring, enthusiastic individual to join our Rowan Gate team as a Lunchtime Supervisor. This is a rewarding role supporting children with additional needs and helping to make lunchtime a positive, safe, and enjoyable part of their school experience.
As a Lunchtime Supervisor, you will play an important role in our children’s wellbeing and development. Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing the hall or classrooms for lunch and ensuring these spaces are clean and ready for afternoon learning.
- Supporting children with feeding and toileting, where required.
- Engaging with children and supporting safe, happy playtimes under the guidance of classroom staff.

- Understand the importance of safeguarding and child protection.
- Can think on your feet, problem-solve, and handle day‑to‑day challenges with positivity.
The Working Hours for the role are:
- Permanent, part‑time role
- 10 hours per week
- Monday to Friday, 12pm-2pm
- Term time only (38 weeks per year)
The role will be based at either our Wellingborough site or our Tennyson Road, Rushden site. All staff are appointed to Rowan Gate Primary School and may be asked to work at any of our sites if needed. Wherever possible, you’ll be assigned to a consistent site for the academic year.
Rowan Gate is committed to safeguarding and promoting the safety and welfare of the pupils in its care and all applicants should hold or be willing to undergo a DBS enhanced disclosure. Appointments will also be subject to a satisfactory medical assessment and satisfactory references from previous employers, among other checks. In addition, in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education, we are also required to carry out online searches for all successfully shortlisted candidates.
