Assistant Principal job summary

This role offers an exciting and challenging opportunity for an experienced and passionate leader to play a key part in shaping inclusive and safe education across the Academy.

 

As Assistant Principal (Vulnerable Groups), the successful candidate will work closely with the Head of School and wider leadership team to provide strategic oversight of the safeguarding arrangements across the Academy, ensuring that safeguarding is embedded in every aspect of school life and that a strong culture of vigilance and care is maintained.

 

The post holder will take on the responsibilities of Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), leading on child protection, staff training, and multi-agency working to safeguard all pupils. Alongside this, the Assistant Principal will act as the school’s SENCO, responsible for the strategic leadership and operational management of SEND provision, ensuring that all pupils with additional needs are identified early, supported effectively, and able to access a high-quality, inclusive education.

 

The role will also involve a small teaching commitment, focused on delivering targeted SEN interventions and supporting the curriculum, and will require the successful candidate to model excellent classroom practice. This is a vital senior leadership position that requires a proactive, compassionate, and resilient individual with a deep commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and improving outcomes for all learners.
