Assistant Principal for Behaviour, Culture and Ethos job summary
About the role:
- As the Assistant Principal for Behaviour, Culture and Ethos, you will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, responsible for promoting and maintaining high standards of behaviour and overall student wellbeing. You will play a pivotal role in shaping our school culture, supporting students in developing positive behaviours, and working closely with staff, parents, and external agencies to implement our vision of a respectful and inclusive school environment.
- We are looking for an excellent leader; someone who has an aptitude for dealing with students and teachers in a professional manner, modelling behaviours for their team and all staff and students. The successful candidate will be part of a wider team which will further develop the culture and ethos of the school.
- Salary range L11 to L15 on the Leadership Pay Spine
- Accountable to the Principal
- The exact role will be negotiated depending on the candidate’s skill set
- The activities outlined in this job description are in addition to those covered by the latest School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document. It may be modified by the Principal, with your agreement, to reflect or anticipate changes in the job, commensurate with the salary and job title.
The ideal candidate will:
- Be an experienced leader with a strong track record of shaping culture and delivering sustained improvement.
- Be a confident, visible presence, comfortable leading in the public domain and successfully delivering whole‑school priorities.
- Will have significant expertise in behaviour leadership, with a clear understanding of how exemplary behaviour is built and sustained.
- Be a strategic thinker able to diagnose challenges, solve problems, and translate vision into action.
- Be a leader with a clear and ambitious vision for raising outcomes, recognising the central role of culture and behaviour.
- Be inspirational and credible, able to motivate, develop, and empower others to deliver collective impact.
- Be professionally curious and informed, keeping up to date with educational, legal, and national developments.
- Be reflective and well‑read, with a commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.
- Be an excellent classroom practitioner with strong credibility in teaching and learning.
- Be deeply committed to outstanding learning and to the transformational power of education.
- To undertake such other tasks and duties as may be reasonably assigned by the Principal.
