What skills and experience we're looking for

To build capacity and continue driving school improvement, we are seeking to appoint a senior leader with a passion, deep knowledge and strong strategic understanding of Early Years and Key Stage 1. This role is pivotal in securing excellence across the earliest stages of a child's education and shaping the foundations for long-term success. For a suitably qualified and experienced candidate, there will be opportunities to influence practice more widely across the Trust.

We are looking for an ambitious and talented leader to take on the role of Assistant Principal with responsibility for leading Early Years and Key Stage 1. You will work closely with a dedicated team across both phases to create an exceptional learning offer that supports children from their very first moments in school through their transition into Key Stage 1. The successful candidate will be an outstanding practitioner with the skills, insight and experience to lead staff, develop pedagogy and secure ongoing improvement across EYFS and KS1.

For candidates with appropriate expertise, there is potential for an enhanced leadership contribution, supporting the development of early phase practice across the Primary schools within the Maltby Learning Trust.

In this role, you will champion our ambition to secure the highest levels of attainment and progress for all children, ensuring that both Early Years and Key Stage 1 deliver the strongest possible foundations for learning.

As part of the Senior Leadership Team, you will join a highly aspirational and forward-thinking academy committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for pupils. Maltby Learning Trust is a successful and collaborative partnership of local schools dedicated to raising educational ambition in the communities we serve. The successful candidate will benefit from a wide range of opportunities for professional development and career progression across all phases of the Trust.

Are you someone who:

  • Can shape practice and establish exceptional learning experiences across EYFS and Key Stage 1?
  • Can coach and model exemplary pedagogy across the early phase?
  • Can design and implement strategic improvement plans for both EYFS and KS1?
  • Is committed to building a culture of collaboration and high-quality CPD?
  • Has the energy and enthusiasm to inspire staff and engage young learners?
  • Can champion innovation, lead change and think differently?

The successful candidate will be:

  • An outstanding EYFS/KS1 practitioner and leader, able to secure excellent progress and attainment through inspiring, innovative practice.
  • An ambitious and enthusiastic professional committed to raising standards for all children.
  • A collaborative leader who contributes actively to academy-wide and Trust-wide improvement.
  • A positive, adaptable individual who embraces new ideas and responds effectively to change.

In return we offer:

  • Modern, purpose built learning spaces, which inspire exceptional teaching and learning
  • Excellent career development opportunities and access to a comprehensive continuous programme of personalised 'Professional Learning and Development' (PLD)
  • An excellent induction programme with dynamic, driven and supportive staff
  • Supportive induction and mentoring
  • Collaboration within a Multi-Academy Trust
  • Employee benefits, including:
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • 24/7 GP access
  • Cash Healthcare Plan
  • Staff Rewards Gateway
