Assistant Principal – Pastoral & Designated Safeguarding Lead job summary

The role in a nutshell

This role offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity for an ambitious leader. The post holder will have strategic responsibility for pastoral care, attendance and safeguarding across the academy, including oversight of the Getting Ready Strategy and the careers programme. A key focus will be to ensure that every pupil feels a strong sense of belonging and is able to access timely, effective pastoral support and intervention. Through this work, the post holder will help ensure pupils feel safe, supported, and able to thrive.


The candidate

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the appropriate knowledge and experience for the role, alongside a clear commitment to ongoing professional development. Essential attributes include:

 

·       A relevant NPQ qualification (e.g. NPQSL, NPQLT, NPQH, or NPQLBC), or a commitment to undertake professional development at this level

·       Proven experience of leading pastoral care and safeguarding effectively

·       An unwavering commitment to supporting a diverse range of pupils, including those with individual and often complex needs

·       Highly developed communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with pupils, families, and professionals

·       A strong commitment to collaborative working and effective teamwork
