About the Role

We are seeking an ambitious and inspirational Assistant Principal - Science to lead and drive excellence within one of the academy's most important curriculum areas. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented leader who is passionate about science education and committed to securing exceptional outcomes for all scholars.

As Assistant Principal - Science, you will be an exceptional classroom practitioner and a key leader in raising standards across the academy. You will play a central role in shaping the science curriculum, developing teaching and learning, and supporting colleagues through coaching, mentoring and professional development. Working as part of the senior leadership team, you will help create a culture where scholarship, curiosity and achievement thrive.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for science across the academy.
• Lead the continued development of a challenging, knowledge-rich science curriculum.
• Drive improvements in teaching, learning and achievement across all science disciplines.
• Monitor performance data and implement effective strategies to accelerate progress.
• Develop and support colleagues through coaching, mentoring and professional development.
• Ensure high standards of curriculum delivery, assessment and quality assurance.
• Promote a culture of academic ambition, curiosity and excellence.
• Contribute to whole-school improvement and the strategic leadership of the academy.

What We Are Looking For

• An outstanding science teacher with a proven track record of securing excellent outcomes.
• Successful experience in middle or senior leadership within a secondary school.
• Strong knowledge of science curriculum development, assessment and pedagogy.
• The ability to inspire and develop colleagues to continually improve their practice.
• Experience of using data effectively to evaluate performance and drive improvement.
• A commitment to evidence-informed practice and educational excellence.
• Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
• A genuine belief that all scholars can achieve highly, regardless of background or starting point.
