Assistant SENDCO job summary

Icknield High School is a highly successful multi-cultural 11-16 comprehensive with Academy status, situated in pleasant grounds on the northern outskirts of town.

We are currently seeking to appoint to the above position. Hours are 37 per week, term time, plus training days and occasional parents’ evenings.

The Assistant SENDCO role involves working with, and under the guidance of the SENDCO and Deputy Headteacher to manage and work collaboratively with students, their families, school staff and the wider community to provide inclusive provision and effective support for students with Special and additional educational needs and disabilities.

The role includes leading the support for students who have English as an Additional Language. The successful applicant will work closely with these students, some of whom are at the beginning of their English acquisition and supporting them to thrive.

Applicants must have experience of working within an educational setting, with students and young people with a range of special needs. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, together with the ability to use IT competently, be organised and able to support learning and student progress across the curriculum and key stages.
