What skills and experience we're looking for

Starting in September, we are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Assistant SENDCo to join our SEND team on a fixed term basis to cover maternity leave.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), ensuring they can access a broad and inclusive curriculum and achieve their full potential.

Working closely with the SENDCo, you will support the delivery of high-quality provision across the College and contribute to a structured graduated response to meeting students’ needs.

Key responsibilities

  • Act as a first point of contact for parents and carers, responding to SEND queries and providing support

  • Develop, update and share pupil passports with staff

  • Support the delivery of small group and 1:1 interventions and evaluate their impact

  • Maintain and update the College’s provision map

  • Support students with additional needs within mainstream classroom settings

  • Complete EHCP annual reviews for identified pupils

  • Liaise with professionals such as educational psychologists, therapists, and the Devon SEND Support Team

  • Attend parents’ evenings and other key events
