Stephenson Academy is a specialist SEMH (social, emotional and mental health) provision for students aged 9-16. The Role

We're seeking a reliable, energetic and pro-active Assistant Site Manager to join our proactive team. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining a safe, clean and well-maintained school environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Caretaking duties and general site maintenance
  • Grounds maintenance
  • General and emergency cleaning as required
  • Emergency repairs and portering
  • Liaising with contractors and school users
  • Key holder and opening up/locking up duties

What We're Looking For

  • An organised, friendly team player
  • Someone willing to work hard and use initiative
  • A practical approach to problem-solving
  • Previous experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential
  • Additional skills such as DIY, painting and decorating would be advantageous
  • Applicants must be fit and healthy
  • A clean driving licence would be useful, though not essential

Working Pattern

We're ideally looking for someone who can work Monday to Friday, 1pm to 6pm. A flexible approach and willingness to occasionally cover colleagues during busy periods, annual leave or periods of absence would be helpful.

Stephenson Academy is a successful 80 place special school, which opened in 2012. It has a main site, which caters for 11-16 year olds. We have an associated independent sixth form provision for 16-19 year olds.

As a specialist academy we cater for students who have Education and Health Care Plans with an identified primary need of Social Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties (SEMH), many with associated challenging behaviour. Many of our students have additional special educational needs such as speech, language and communication difficulties, Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and mental health difficulties
