Are you passionate about education and eager to support young people in achieving their full potential? Cardinal Wiseman Catholic School in Coventry is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant to English Teacher to join our vibrant English Department.

Working Hours: 3 days per week, 8:30am – 4:30pm (Term time only + 3 INSET days)
Salary: Romero Grade 4 actual salary £13,288 – £15,104 per annum
Start Date: September 2025

📝 About the Role

As an Assistant to the English Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting a designated English teacher in her return to the classroom. You will work closely with the designated English teacher, assisting in lesson delivery, classroom management, marking, and planning. In the teacher’s absence, you may be required to lead lessons, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment.

🔍 Key Responsibilities

  • Support the allocated English teacher in all aspects of lesson delivery, including team teaching and intervention planning.
  • Supervise classes when required and maintain high standards of behaviour in line with school policy.
  • Assist with marking, resource preparation, and classroom organisation.
  • Maintain accurate records using school systems (e.g., Arbor, CPOMS).
  • Attend relevant meetings, Faculty meetings and Parents Evenings. Contribute to the wider life of the school.

Essential:

  • Experience working with young people, ideally in a school setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge in English and understanding of the national curriculum.
  • An interest in teaching/future career plans in teaching
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and behaviour management skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Empathy and a supportive flexible attitude is essential in this role

Desirable:

  • A-Level/Degree in an English-based subject.
  • First aid training or willingness to undertake training.
