What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified, inspiring and enthusiastic professional to join our Senior Leadership Team at an exciting time in the school’s history where provision in the Sixth Form continues to grow and flourish. The role is to provide proactive and strategic leadership combining a teaching role across the age and ability range with the strategic development of the school’s Key Stage 5 provision. You will have proven leadership experience and possess the energy, enthusiasm and dedication to drive forward rapid and on-going developments while achieving the best possible outcomes for all of our students. The ability to teach in one of the following subject areas would be an advantage: Business Studies, Design & Technology or Science. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for an ambitious and dynamic individual, who will help to shape the future of the school.

What the school offers its staff

The school has been rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted, most recently in January 2018:

“The leadership team has maintained the good quality of education in the school since the last inspection. You have created an inclusive and purposeful environment. Blue Coat is a ‘welcoming school’. Pupils enjoy school. Staff are proud of the school. They believe that there is a culture that encourages calm and orderly conduct and is aspirational for all pupils.”

Blue Coat Church of England Academy is one of the oldest educational establishments in Walsall, is well-respected and valued by the community it serves. We operate on a very collaborative approach to school improvement working with a range of other schools and nationally recognised trainers. The school is very proud of the family ethos which pervades all aspects of its work, which is grounded in Christian values.

Commitment to safeguarding

Blue Coat Church of England Academy is committed to the highest standards of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils. All staff and volunteers are expected to share this commitment. This post is subject to enhanced DBS disclosure and a ‘prohibition from teaching’ check will be completed for all applicants.
