What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking for an enthusiastic and conscientious Attendance Intervention Manager to play a central role in shaping our whole school attendance strategy to continue to ensure high levels of attendance at King Edward VI School. This is a pivotal role in supporting students and families to ensure at least good attendance at school, and tackle barriers to attending by guaranteeing that all students receive an education as required by the Education Act 2011. This post will involve working with parents/carers, key staff across the school and also close collaboration with our Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion our Attendance Officer and wider Guidance Team.
The successful candidate will need to drive standards for high attendance by meeting regularly with parents/carers, completing referrals to the Education Welfare Team, monitoring and analysing student attendance data and coordinating safe and well visits. Previous experience of working in a similar role or within a school environment will be desirable. IT skills, and the ability to balance supportive conversations with high expectations are essential alongside a wider interest attendance-related matter. Safeguarding experience is also desirable although full training will be given.
The post holder will be required to liaise with a range of staff, students, parents and external organisations, and work effectively to deadlines. This is a new role and an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to have a significant developmental impact on whole school attendance. The anticipated hours of work are 8.30am - 4.30pm three days per week with a break for lunch.
