Attendance Officer job summary

Are you passionate about supporting student success and making a real difference in education?

We are seeking a proactive and organised Attendance Officer (term time plus 1 week) to join our dedicated team.

In this vital role, you will monitor and improve student attendance, working closely with students, families, and staff to promote a culture of high expectations and engagement.

You’ll play a key part in identifying attendance issues early, implementing effective interventions, and ensuring compliance with school policies and legal requirements.

Key Roles:

  • Monitoring daily attendance and following up on absences
  • Building positive relationships with students and families to encourage regular attendance
  • Working closely with staff and external agencies to support pupils with attendance concerns
  • Keeping accurate records and producing reports for senior leaders
  • Supporting the school’s safeguarding and wellbeing priorities

What we’re looking for:

  • Someone who is approachable, empathetic, and confident in communicating with families
  • Strong organisational and IT skills (experience of Arbor is a plus)
  • A team player who can also work independently and use their initiative
  • Experience in a school or similar setting is helpful, but not essential – training will be provided
