Attendance Officer job summary

Term-time only + training days (39 weeks)

Are you organised, proactive and passionate about helping young people achieve their full potential?

We are looking for an Attendance Officer to join our Pastoral Services team and play a key role in supporting our ambitious aim of achieving 97% attendance across the school.

This is an important role at the heart of our pastoral provision. You will take responsibility for the accurate and timely administration of daily attendance and punctuality, working closely with students, parents, teachers and pastoral colleagues to identify concerns and help remove barriers to regular attendance.

You will be responsible for monitoring and analysing attendance information, following up absences and producing accurate reports and statistical information to support effective decision-making. You will also work alongside pastoral staff to identify patterns, trends and groups of students requiring additional support.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is highly organised, accurate and proactive
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Is confident working with data and identifying patterns and trends
  • Is comfortable having sensitive and sometimes challenging conversations with parents and colleagues
  • Has excellent attention to detail and understands the importance of accurate attendance information
  • Is committed to improving outcomes and experiences for children and young people
  • Understands the important relationship between attendance, engagement and achievement
  • Has previous experience working in a school, pastoral or attendance environment (desirable)
  • Has experience using Arbor or similar school information systems (desirable)
