Attendance Officer job summary
We have an exciting opportunity to apply to join an existing, experienced Attendance Team at King’s Academy Bay House School. Our school is Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ in all areas and part of King’s Academy Trust, which won MAT of the Year in the National Schools Awards. Working closely with the AHT responsible for attendance, Deputy Headteacher, Pastoral and Safeguarding Teams, the team is responsible for ensuring that all requirements for recording and reporting pupil/student attendance and absence are met in an efficient and effective manner, whilst driving the achievement of excellent attendance.
You will employ a range of strategies to overcome barriers to good attendance and work closely with parents and carers, as well as effectively challenging pupils/students, staff, and parents on matters relating to attendance.
Ideally, you will have an understanding of school systems and issues affecting poor attendance at school. Experience of MIS (Arbor) and CPOMS would be beneficial. The successful candidate needs to be extremely well organised, have the ability to prioritise work, and ensure that strict deadlines are met. The ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a wider team is essential. Of most importance is the ability to think creatively to address attendance issues, implementing innovative and imaginative solutions to complex issues; for example, improving the attendance of EBSA students and persistent absentees (pupils whose absence is below 90%).
If you would like to be considered for an interview, please complete the personal statement outlining your current level of experience and how you meet the requirements for this role. A full driving licence and car are essential requirements for this role.
