Attendance Officer job summary

Are you passionate about supporting children and families to thrive in education? The Romero Catholic Academy is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Attendance Officer to join our team. This is a rewarding opportunity to work across our primary schools, supporting our families and improving school attendance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and support pupils with low attendance, particularly those with additional needs.
  • Build trusted relationships with families to support positive change.
  • Conduct home visits and manage a caseload of families requiring targeted support.
  • Collaborate with school staff and external agencies to deliver effective interventions.
  • Support legal processes related to non-attendance where necessary.
  • Assist with the transition of vulnerable pupils to secondary school.
  • Deliver training to staff on attendance and safeguarding practices.
What We’re Looking For
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant field.
  • Experience working with children, young people, and families in a support capacity.
  • Strong understanding of child development, safeguarding, and early intervention.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, including lone working during home visits.
  • Willingness to work flexibly, including evenings and occasional weekends.
