Job Title: Attendance Officer
Responsible to: Deputy Head (Pastoral)
Contract: Permanent
Start Date: October 2025
St Joseph's Catholic School is looking to appoint a professional, highly efficient and detail-oriented individual to join our pastoral team.
Key responsibilities:
Monitor daily attendance, maintain accurate records, and follow up on absences through first-day calling and parent communication.
Identify and track attendance concerns, producing reports and data analysis to support early intervention strategies.
Lead School Attendance Meetings (SAMs) and liaise closely with the Pastoral Team, Heads of Year, and external agencies.
Support safeguarding efforts by escalating concerns and ensuring accurate logging on systems such as SIMS, CPOMs, and ClassCharts.
Work with families to improve attendance, offering advice and strategies, and accessing Early Help or Educational Welfare Services where appropriate.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge through training and contribute to the school’s attendance audit and action plan.
Promote a culture of high attendance and pupil well-being, especially for vulnerable groups.This role requires excellent communication, organisational skills, and a strong understanding of safeguarding and attendance frameworks.
