Grade 4 - Attendance and Welfare Officer - part time

18 hours per week term time only + 5 training days (195 days) - Monday to Friday (am)

Actual starting salary will be £10,373.16 - £10,705.41 (£24,790 - £25,584 £ FTE)

Are you passionate about supporting vulnerable young people and helping them thrive? We are seeking an additional Attendance and Welfare Officer to join our dedicated team at Whitehouse Pupil Referral Unit & Bridgeview Special School.

In this vital role, you will work closely with students, families, and school staff to promote regular attendance, monitor absence patterns, and work with safeguarding and the senior leadership team to provide tailored interventions to address the complex barriers that some of our learners’ face.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting home visits, meetings, and welfare checks to understand and address the reasons behind poor attendance
  • Liaising with external agencies such as social services, youth offending teams, and mental health services etc
  • Developing and implementing attendance action plans
  • Maintaining detailed records to evidence progress and inform future strategies

You will have:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills

Our prime purpose is to prepare pupils to be ready to return to mainstream or to transfer to the most appropriate provision.

Whitehouse PRU is co-located with the Bridgeview Special School. Bridgeview is a special school for pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs.
