Autism Base Lead Teacher job summary
At the Wensum Trust, we are committed to fostering emotional wellbeing, belonging, inclusion, and achievement for every child and every member of our team. Central to this is a relational approach that prioritises building strong, positive relationships with children, their families, our staff, colleagues and the wider community.
We deliver this approach through our 3 C’s:
This shared ethos underpins everything we do and is essential for creating an environment where everyone feels valued, respected, and supported.
Alderman Peel is a small, oversubscribed 11-16 school situated in beautiful North Norfolk. We believe strongly in an inclusive education and that every single student and member of staff should be supported to achieve excellence. Our team ethos is central to our success and we would welcome applications from similar minded professionals. Our students are polite, well behaved and deserve the best.
We are looking for a visionary practitioner to spearhead the opening of the first-ever Cullum Centre in the Eastern region. As one of only a handful of such centres in the entire country, this is a high-profile appointment. You will be at the helm of a prestigious partnership between Alderman Peel High School, Norfolk County Council, The National Autistic Society (NAS), and the Cullum Family Trust.
This is not a standard SEN vacancy.
Why this role is different?
This is a pioneering hub designed to ensure autistic students flourish and thrive within a mainstream environment. An identical Cullum Centre provision is set to open at Acle Academy in 2027/28.
In this role you will get the opportunity to:
- Be a regional pioneer:
- As the first Cullum Centre in the East, your work will set the benchmark for specialist provision across the region alongside Norfolk’s family of SRB provision.
- Raise your national profile:
- You will work alongside the National Autistic Society and the Cullum Family Trust, putting your leadership on a national stage.
- Implement a proven model:
- You will be implementing a highly successful, research-backed framework with the resources and backing to make it work.
Supported by The Wensum Trust
While you lead the Cullum Centre, you are never working in isolation. Being part of The Wensum Trust family means:
- Unrivalled collaboration: Access to a wide network of strategic partners and a collaborative community of staff that have a real focus on SEND.
- Investment in you: We believe in developing our leaders. You will receive bespoke training and opportunities to evolve your skill set as you grow this provision.
- A shared purpose: You will be part of a committed team dedicated to providing a rounded education and quality support for families and the wider community.
If you are an expert practitioner ready to step into a high-visibility leadership role and change the landscape of inclusion in the East of England, we want to hear from you.
