We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Band 7 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team in a vibrant Special Educational Needs (SEN) Trust. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead, innovate, and shape the future of therapy provision in a supportive and child-centred environment.

About the Role

As a key member of our integrated team, you will:

  • Provide clinical leadership and specialist input for pupils with a range of complex needs, including autism, developmental language disorder, learning disabilities, and sensory processing difficulties.
  • Lead on service development, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based practice.
  • Supervise and support junior therapists, therapy assistants, and students.
  • Work collaboratively with school staff, families, and external agencies to deliver holistic, child-focused care.
  • Contribute to EHCPs, multi-agency reviews, and training for staff and parents.

What We’re Looking For

  • HCPC-registered Speech and Language Therapist with significant post-qualification experience.
  • Proven expertise in working with children and young people with complex communication needs, including PMLD, SLD and Autism, along with NHS Band 6/7 SALT experience
  • Strong leadership, supervision, and service development skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaborative working abilities.
  • A passion for inclusive education and empowering young people.

The Redbridge Integrated Care Board and Local Authority are jointly transforming therapy support for children and young people in Special Schools. The successful candidate will join the Astrum Multi Academy Trust therapy hub and work across all three school sites. This newly established service will be supervised by a Lead Specialist Speech and Language therapist and includes joint working with other therapists - SALT and OT as well as support from therapy assistants who focus on ensuring every pupil has an individual AAC programme and equipment. This is an exciting opportunity to develop specialist clinical skills and embed yourself in the school community to support our children and young people in achieving the best functional outcomes.

We are part of the Astrum Multi Academy Trust with two school sites, which are within one mile of each other. Lower School is for pupils in Early Years Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 and Upper School for students in Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and 16-19.

Pupils transfer from Gresham Drive to Barley Lane Campus at the end of Key Stage 2 and are supported to do this through a well-planned transition programme.
