Barrier Assistant job summary
Term-Time. Part Time 8 hours 20 minutes per week, Monday to Friday 8.20am-9.05am and 2.55pm-3.50pm
Join our team as a Barrier Assistant and play a vital role in keeping our school community safe! You’ll be setting up, managing, and removing road barriers before and after school as part of the innovative School Street Scheme, directly contributing to the wellbeing of our students and neighbours. This hands-on role is perfect for someone who enjoys working outdoors and making a real difference every day.

Oatlands Junior School is surrounded by spacious, beautiful grounds with fantastic outdoor facilities. We have recently expanded into a full three-form entry Junior school, with two new additional classrooms and Arts Studio. Our running track, is popular with all our children, especially the ‘Daily Mile’ challenge. We work closely with our friends in the local community who support various projects in school. The local allotment group work in partnership with our Eco-Committee to maintain and develop our nature area, which includes a sensory and wildlife garden and Reading Retreat. Our sculpture garden, at the entrance to our school, displays works of art throughout the year in collaboration with local artists. We have been recognised for our high quality curriculum provision through the many awards that we have achieved, including: Arts Mark Gold; Sports Games Gold; Eco Schools Bronze; Healthy School Award Bronze and we are working to achieve the Carnegie Mental Health Award.
