Behaviour Manager job summary

The Role:

Lead with Purpose. Support with Strength. Make a Difference Every Day.

  • Are you ready to be the driving force behind a positive, high‑ impact school culture where every student can thrive?

  • At the heart of our school is a commitment to inclusion, respect, and growth — and our Behaviour Manager plays a vital role in making that vision real

  • We’re looking for someone passionate about guiding young people to make better choices and become their best selves

  • Bring your energy, empathy, and leadership — and help us take our behaviour culture to the next level

We are seeking a confident, consistent, and highly organised Behaviour Manager to manage our Reflect Room—a key part of our behaviour strategy. This is a vital role for someone who can uphold the highest standards, manage behaviour firmly and fairly, and support students in making positive changes.

At Salford City Academy, our vision is to secure academic excellence and life-changing opportunities for every student, through a culture where the SCA Way is lived every day: we work hard, act as positive role models, and show respect to all.

We are relentless in our commitment to exceptional teaching, delivering a rich, challenging curriculum that enables all students to achieve highly and opens doors to future success. We believe that background should never limit potential, and we strive to provide every young person with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities they need to thrive.

Within a culture of warmth, belonging, and high expectations, we explicitly teach and model good character — developing resilience, integrity, and responsibility alongside academic achievement.

As Behaviour Manager, you will:

  • Lead and manage the Reflect Room throughout the school day, ensuring it remains a calm, silent, and structured environment.

  • Hold students to the highest standards, ensuring they complete meaningful work and reflect on their behaviour.

  • Track and report student attendance and behaviour patterns to the pastoral team, Senior Behaviour Manager, and SLT.

  • Support restorative practice, helping coordinate and monitor follow-up conversations between students and staff.

  • Be on-call where required to support behaviour management and corridor supervision.

  • Supervise after-school detentions until 4:00 PM.

A Typical Day:

Salford City Academy operates a five-period day, with each period lasting one hour.

The successful applicant will be assigned to the Reflect Room for three periods per day and will provide on-call behaviour support across the academy for one period.

Please note that this allocation is subject to change based on the needs of the academy.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong behaviour management and a calm, authoritative presence.

  • Experience working with young people in a school or pastoral setting.

  • Excellent communication, organisation, and record-keeping skills.

  • A team player who’s committed to making a positive impact.

Why Join Us?

  • Minimal out-of-hours work - your time outside school is truly your own.

  • Term Time + 3 Weeks - enjoy extended school holidays.

  • Supportive team - work closely with experienced pastoral staff and SLT.

  • Make a real difference - play a key role in helping students reset and succeed.

  • As part of United Learning we pay an average of 5% above national scales - the best rates of pay in the sector

  • We offer a health cash plan giving you money towards essential medical treatment - including eyecare and flu vaccinations;

  • Our staff discount scheme saves you money on supermarket shopping, gym memberships, holidays, breakdown cover, car leasing, cycle schemes and more
