East Sussex Skills Academy (ESSA) is seeking a dedicated and proactive Behaviour Mentor to join our team in Bexhill on Sea​​In this vital role, you will work with a specific caseload of children to build their self-esteem, break down emotional and mental health barriers to learning, and promote social inclusion. You will lead small groups, offer pastoral support, and collaborate closely with families and school specialists to ensure every student succeeds.

Salary: From £24,342 per annum (Actual)

Hours: 35 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (Term time only)

Location: Bexhill on Sea

Reporting to: Assistant Head​

🔑 Key Requirements​Education: Level 2 or equivalent including English & Maths

Experience: Working with diverse groups within an educational setting

Qualifications: Positive Handling qualification (or willingness to undergo training)

Skills: Strong communication, creative problem-solving, and student tracking system experience

Mobility: Ability and skills to drive and make supportive home visits​

What the school offers its staff

East Sussex Skills Academy, located in Bexhill, recently joined London South East Academies Trust. As an alternative provision, the school supports up to 94 pupils in Years 9-11 who are unable to access mainstream education.

ESSA offers a broad range of vocational pathways. Pupils receive high quality teaching in maths, English and science alongside expert professional tuition in Construction multi-trades, Hairdressing, Barbering & Beauty, Automotive, Hospitality & Catering, Sports & Fitness and Arts & Creativity.
