Behaviour Mentor job summary

We are seeking a compassionate and proactive Behaviour Mentor to join our dedicated pastoral team. In this role, you will work closely with our experienced Lead Pastoral Teaching Assistant to provide targeted support for pupils who need help managing their behaviour and developing key social and emotional skills. Together, you will help ensure a calm, respectful, and supportive school climate where all pupils can succeed.

You will work closely with teachers, families, and external agencies to promote a positive school culture.

  • Deliver one-to-one and small group mentoring / support to pupils needing behaviour or SEND support.
  • Develop and implement behaviour plans alongside teaching and leadership staff.
  • Promote emotional wellbeing, social skills, and resilience in pupils.
  • Record and monitor behaviour incidents, providing feedback to staff and parents.
  • Support reintegration of pupils after suspension or behavioural interventions.
  • Collaborate with staff, parents, and external partners to meet pupil needs.
  • Experience in behaviour mentoring or related pastoral support roles.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with pupils and families.
  • Understanding of behaviour management strategies and restorative approaches.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
