Are you passionate about making a real difference in children's lives? We're looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant behaviour team in a primary school that thrives on positivity, teamwork, and growth. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils in a disadvantaged area, working alongside a close-knit team with excellent staff morale and clear pathways for career progression.
Purpose of Job:
To provide targeted behavioural and emotional support to children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, delivering tailored interventions outside the mainstream classroom in a bespoke learning environment. The role focuses on helping students develop coping strategies, emotional regulation, and positive behaviours to reintegrate successfully into class where possible.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Direct Student Support
- Deliver 1:1 and small-group intervention sessions in a dedicated behaviour support space, focusing on social skills, emotional regulation, and behaviour management.
- Implement individualised support plans (e.g., EHCP, IEP, or PBS plans) in collaboration with the SENCO and pastoral team.
- Use trauma-informed and restorative approaches to de-escalate crises and rebuild trust.
- Support students with SEMH needs through structured activities (e.g., anger management, mindfulness, or social stories).
2. Bespoke Classroom Management
- Create a safe, predictable, and nurturing environment in the bespoke classroom, adapting resources to meet sensory/emotional needs.
- Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers, parents, and external agencies (e.g., educational psychologists).
- Model positive behaviour and teach self-regulation techniques (e.g., Zones of Regulation, PACE approaches).
3. Collaboration & Safeguarding
- Work closely with the SENCO, pastoral team, and external professionals (e.g., CAMHS, social workers) to align support strategies.
- Attend multi-agency meetings and contribute to risk assessments or behaviour reviews.
- Uphold safeguarding policies, reporting concerns promptly and following school protocols.
Commitment to safeguarding
The Endeavour Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. You can find our Child Protection Policy on the trust's website: http://www.endeavouracademytrust.org.uk
