Behaviour Unit Manager job summary

At Ormskirk School, we believe every young person deserves the chance to succeed — no matter the challenges they face. We’re looking for a passionate and dedicated Behaviour Unit Manager to lead our behaviour support provision, helping students re-engage with learning, rebuild confidence, and thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

This is a rewarding leadership opportunity for someone who can inspire change, build trust, and make a lasting impact on young lives.

You’ll lead the school’s Behaviour Support Unit — a safe, structured, and nurturing environment that supports students who need extra help managing their behaviour and emotions. Working closely with our pastoral team, teaching staff, families, and external agencies, you’ll design and deliver targeted interventions that help students reset, reflect, and reintegrate successfully into school life.

In this role, you will:

Oversee the day-to-day running of the Behaviour Unit — ensuring it’s a calm, purposeful, and supportive environment.

Lead on behaviour intervention strategies for individuals and small groups.

Work one-to-one with students to promote self-awareness, resilience, and positive decision-making.

Support teachers with behaviour strategies and consistent approaches across the school.

Build strong partnerships with parents, carers, and agencies to support long-term positive change.

Track, monitor, and evaluate behaviour data to ensure impact and continual improvement.

Contribute to school-wide behaviour policy and culture, helping to shape a community built on respect and kindness.
