Bikeability Instructor job summary

The Bikeability Instructor role is part of a strong pool of instructors, led by the School Sport Partnership Manager.

Role requirements include:

  • Assist with the delivery of National Standard cycle training as organised by Rural Derbyshire School Sport Partnership.
  • Complete course paperwork including registers, assessments, course reports and results.
  • Complete risk assessments of the trainees, cycles, and the training area (including on-road locations).
  • Collection of consent forms at the start of training sessions.
  • Accountable for the safety and welfare of colleagues and trainees.
  • Ensure training is delivered in line with Rural Derbyshire School Sport Partnership health and safety policy with an awareness of accident and incident reporting procedures.
  • Enable trainees to cycle safely, promoting cycling as a means of transport and a fun, healthy activity

You will need to be:

  • A regular and competent cyclist with an understanding and awareness of road and traffic environments.
  • Able to communicate effectively with all trainees including children, parents and schools.
  • Decisive, maintain good discipline, inspire confidence and give encouragement.
  • Enthusiastic about cycling with an understanding of cycling as a sport, means of transport, leisure pursuit and healthy form of exercise.

The successful candidate will be required to deliver bikeability sessions at schools within the partnership. Work is of an adhoc nature and sessions will be agreed in advance with the successful candidate. The successful candidate must be able to get to the venues so should be able to drive and have access to a vehicle with business insurance.
