What skills and experience we're looking for
About You
We are looking for kind, caring, patient teaching assistants who wants to help shape lives of pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs.
We believe in giving all pupils a fresh start, you will work closely with the class teacher to play a key role in this goal. Your work combined with support from our onsite Psychotherapeutic counsellor means that pupils can manage their behavioural issues, preparing them for life beyond school.
You will need to be committed to creating a positive learning environment for all pupils and will need a high level of resilience and a commitment to working as part of a team to support vulnerable children.
You will need:
- Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification / relevant qualification for working with young people
- Experience of supporting pupils with SEMH needs (This can be as part of placements and can be from mainstream settings)
- To be able to manage challenging behaviours and implement de-escalation strategies
- Patience, resilience, and passion about making a positive difference
Key Duties
- Supervise and provide individualised support for pupils
- Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher
- Establish constructive relationships with parents/carers under teacher guidance
- Create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment, in accordance with lesson plans and assist with the display of pupils’ work
