Breakfast Club & Afterschool Playworker job summary

We looking for people who are enthusiastic, flexible, caring, reliable and self-motivated, and enjoy interacting & working with children aged 4 - 11 years to ensure our Breakfast & After School Club runs smoothly and safely for our children here at Halton Community Combined School.

These are permanent, term-time only (38 weeks per year) positions, for 4.75 hours per day across our Breakfast & Afterschool Club, however there is the possibility of a job share.

The hours of work are:

Monday to Friday

7:15am - 9:00am & 3:00pm - 6:00pm

The out of hours care club is run by the school and the supervisors and play workers are valued members of the School community. This role involves providing wrap around care and activities for children aged between 4 and 11 years in a safe and nurturing environment.

Responsibilities:

  • To assist in planning, running and supervising a wide variety of stimulating activities, complying with health and safety requirements
  • To assist in maintaining the accuracy of the booking system and receive and record arrivals and departures in accordance with the Club’s policies
  • To provide first aid when necessary, and complete written, signed records of any incidents or accidents of which parents should be informed
  • To implement the Club’s behaviour policy, child protection policy and all other policies and procedures

Children take part in varied and exciting play opportunities both in and outdoors, engage in organised activities or can choose to spend quiet time relaxing after the school day. Links are made to the wider school curriculum and exciting age appropriate activities are planned to link with different festivals and celebrations.

Requirements

  • Enthusiasm, reliability and a genuine interest in working with young people is essential
  • NVQ level 2 Childcare qualification (or a willingness to undertake work based training) is desirable
