Are you a dedicated professional with a passion for maintaining safe and efficient school environments? Atlas Academy is seeking a Buildings Officer to join our team and play a vital role in ensuring our facilities are well-maintained and compliant with health and safety regulations.
Position: Buildings Officer
Location: Atlas Academy
Salary: SCP 12 – 16 (£27,711 - £29,572)
Contract Type: Permanent, 52 weeks per year
Working Hours: 37 hours per week, split shift pattern with potential to move to full days within 12 weeks
Annual Leave: 29 days plus 8 Bank holidays, increasing to 32 days plus 8 Bank holidays after 5 years’ service
Pension: Local Government Pension Scheme
Role Summary: As a Buildings Officer, you will be responsible for:
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Managing and administering budgets for maintenance, grounds maintenance, cleaning, and utilities.
- Overseeing the provision and use of materials and equipment.
- Holding and managing keys, ensuring the security of all buildings.
- Liaising with emergency services and contractors.
- Performing minor repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Supporting outside agencies using school facilities.
- Maintaining cleanliness and safety of the school grounds.
Person Specification:
- Essential: GCSE Maths and English Grade C/4 or above, good literacy and numeracy skills, willingness to undertake First Aid training.
- Desirable: Experience in a school environment, general site work, or a trade.
- Skills: Ability to prioritise tasks, strong communication skills, problem-solving, teamwork, and independent work capabilities.
- Personal Qualities: Resilience, commitment, high motivation, ability to work under pressure, and alignment with school values.
