Business and Operations Manager job summary
- Maternity cover secondment from September 2025
- 22.5 hours per week, over 3 or 4 days
- Term-Time Only + training days + 3 additional weeks (pro-rated)

As our Business and Operations Manager, you will take the lead on all aspects of school operations, ensuring the effective and efficient running of day-to-day services. This is a pivotal role within our school, suited to a confident and solutions-focused professional who can manage multiple priorities, think strategically, and drive continuous improvement. You will work closely with our Headteacher and central Trust teams to ensure our systems, services, and facilities are aligned in supporting the best possible outcomes for our pupils.

About You
To be a great fit for this role, you will:
- Have a background in business operations, or leadership, ideally with experience of school processes, HR, administration and finance
- Be confident, organised and flexible, able to respond to a fast-paced environment
- Have experience of strategic planning, operational delivery and leadership
- Be organised with excellent interpersonal skills and able to relate well to young people

Oatlands Junior School is surrounded by spacious, beautiful grounds with fantastic outdoor facilities. Our running track, is popular with all our children, especially the ‘Daily Mile’ challenge. We work closely with our friends in the local community who support various projects in school. The local allotment group work in partnership with our Eco-Committee to maintain and develop our nature area, which includes a sensory and wildlife garden and Reading Retreat. Our sculpture garden, at the entrance to our school, displays works of art throughout the year in collaboration with local artists. We have been recognised for our high quality curriculum provision through the many awards that we have achieved, including: Arts Mark Gold; Sports Games Gold; Eco Schools Bronze; Healthy School Award Bronze and we are working to achieve the Carnegie Mental Health Award.
Our dedicated staff, parents and governors all work together to make Oatlands Junior School a place where we are all ‘Caring About Today, Creating Successful Tomorrows’.
