Careers Lead job summary

At Chipping Norton School, we want every student to step into their future with clarity and agency. We are looking for an organised, connected professional to take lead responsibility for our careers education, information, advice, and guidance (CEIAG) programme - helping students connect their learning directly to life beyond the school gates.

Why This Role Matters You will lead, design, and deliver a careers programme that meets the Gatsby Benchmarks and Provider Access Legislation. From conducting 1:1 impartial guidance sessions (Level 6 qualification in Career Guidance required) at key decision points to managing and evaluating work experience placements, you will ensure our students engage directly with diverse industries and post-16/18 options. Walking through our careers sessions on a typical morning, you will hear students actively participating, asking sharp, relevant questions about different professions, and planning the precise steps needed to reach their goals.

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience coordinating careers education, work experience programmes and employer engagement.

  • Strong working knowledge of the Gatsby Benchmarks and technical/higher education pathways.

  • Ability to deliver impartial 1:1 guidance (Level 6 qualification in Career Guidance required) and lead PSHE modules related to careers and enterprise.

  • High-level organisational skills to track 14-19 destination data and maintain links with FE colleges, universities, and local employers.

  • Excellent communication skills to brief teaching staff, collaborate with subject leaders, and engage parents and alumni.

The "Why Us" Difference

  • Focused Impact: A full time , term-time schedule designed to allow focused project delivery while preserving your work-life balance

  • Professional Agency: The authority to lead reforms, manage external partner relationships, and shape local employer links to fit our context.

  • Evidence-Informed Practice: Access to Trust-wide and other networks and shared best practice across our secondary settings.

The RLT Connection Education has the power to change lives. Being part of the River Learning Trust means you have the backing of a stable, values-driven network:

  • Professional Security: Continuous public sector service recognition and access to the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS).

  • Shared Growth: Funding for professional pathways, role-specific CPLD, and apprenticeships.

  • The Whole Person: 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme and workload-sensitive practices.

River Learning Trust and Chipping Norton School are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and preventing extremism. We are an exempt employer under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.

We actively value the "different contributions" you can make. We want you to be at your best during the application process; if you require any reasonable adjustments, please let us know.
