The Sele School is seeking a motivated and organised Careers Leader to join our supportive and forward-thinking secondary school. This is a flexible part-time opportunity that can work around family life and other commitments while offering the chance to make a genuine difference to students’ futures.
This role would suit someone who enjoys working with people, building relationships, organising events, and supporting young people to aim high. We welcome applications from candidates with backgrounds in education, pastoral support, youth work, employer engagement, further or higher education, training, or industry.
Previous experience as a Careers Leader is not essential. Funded professional training and support will be available for the right candidate.
At the heart of our school vision — Inspire, Empower, Thrive — is a commitment to ensuring every student leaves us with the confidence, knowledge, and opportunities to succeed in the next stage of their journey.
As Careers Leader, you will coordinate and develop our careers programme across the school, helping students explore pathways including sixth form, apprenticeships, university, and employment. You will organise careers events and employer encounters, build partnerships with local businesses and education providers, and work with staff to embed careers learning across the curriculum. Most importantly, this is an opportunity to help young people thrive while maintaining a healthy balance in your own professional and personal life.
In return, we offer:
- Flexible working arrangements
- Part-time hours that can be discussed at interview
- A supportive and wellbeing-focused leadership team
- Funded Careers Leader training and ongoing professional development
- The opportunity to shape and grow an important area of school life
- A rewarding role with real impact on students’ futures
We welcome visits and informal conversations with prospective applicants.
If you wish to learn more about the school, please feel free to view the videos on our school website which can be found on the “About Us - School Vision and Ethos” page. We understand some may wish to see the school in action. If you wish to visit the school or meet on Teams, please contact the Head’s PA at hr@sele.herts.sch.uk. Applications must be made using the school application form (CVs, or applications made using any other format, will not be accepted) and should be emailed to the address above for the attention of Madeline Genovese, to be considered for interview. The Sele School community is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and all staff and volunteers are expected to demonstrate this commitment in all aspects of their work. Applicants for this post must be willing to undergo child protection training. A full enhanced DBS check will be undertaken and references will be sought prior to appointment start date.
