Caretaker job summary
Kingstone Academy Trust - Caretaker
Salary: HC4
Working pattern: Fulltime. Up to 37.5 hours over 5 days.
Flexible shift pattern to include unlocking and locking site. While the role is advertised at full-time hours, some flexibility may be available for the right candidate.
Starting from: 1.8.26 or as soon as possible
Contract term: Fixed term until 31 August 2027
Kingstone Academy Trust is seeking a caretaker who will play a vital role in ensuring our school site remains safe, secure, welcoming and fully operational. Working as a part of a small site team, you will support the day-to-day management and maintenance of the academy's building and grounds, helping to create an environment where students can thrive.
Your responsibilities will include:
Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across the site
Supporting health and safety compliance, inspections and record keeping
Opening and securing the school premises and acting as a keyholder
Undertaking minor repairs and maintenance tasks
Supporting site security and contractor management
Assisting with grounds maintenance and housekeeping duties
Responding to emergency situations, including adverse weather events

We are seeking a practical, reliable and solution-focused individual who takes pride in maintaining high standards and contributing positively to the Trust community.
Essential requirements:
Experience of caretaking, site maintenance, building maintenance, or similar
Knowledge of building maintenance and first-line repairs
Understanding of health and safety procedures
Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise workloads
Competence in using ICT systems and web-based platforms
Ability to work flexibly and respond to changing priorities
