Caretaker job summary

We are looking for a reliable, practical, and motivated Caretaker to join the site team at Parrenthorn High School.

This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. You’ll be part of a supportive site team responsible for keeping the school safe, secure, and running smoothly for staff and students.

Working hours are between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday, with flexibility built in. Shift patterns will be agreed with the successful candidate to suit both service needs and work-life balance.

The role involves a wide range of duties including building checks, basic maintenance, site security, porterage, and supporting cleaning operations. You’ll need to be physically fit and happy working both independently and as part of a team. Previous caretaking or maintenance experience is desirable, but not essential - full training will be provided for someone with the right attitude and willingness to learn.

During school holidays, you’ll work alongside the wider site team to carry out deeper cleaning and maintenance tasks, helping ensure the school is fully prepared for the return of staff and pupils.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, is dependable, and enjoys contributing to a well-maintained and welcoming environment.

As part of our team, you will be expected to share our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

This role is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Please apply via the links provided by 9:00 am on Monday 15th June 2026.
