What skills and experience we're looking for

St. Ethelbert’s RC Primary School is currently seeking a Caretaker. St. Ethelbert’s RC Primary School is a caring, supportive community, part of the St Teresa of Calcutta Roman Catholic Multi Academy Trust.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance of the school building and its grounds, ensuring high standards of cleanliness and a safe environment for all its users. Our caretaker is responsible for opening and closing the school site each day and providing out of hours emergency access if necessary. We are looking for someone who can undertake minor repairs and maintenance, as well as keep accurate records, both written and digital.

We are seeking an individual who:

  • Has experience of being a Caretaker and/or experience of working in maintenance/trades
  • Has the ability to use judgement to interpret information and make decisions
  • Has the ability to complete documentation essential for the duties of the post
  • Has the ability to undertake tasks that require physical effort, e.g. lifting, porterage duties, working at height
  • Has good interpersonal skills and the ability to work with colleagues and children
