About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and hard-working caretaker to join our Tacolneston and Morley Federation staff team. The role is to work under the direction of the Federation Executive Headteacher to ensure the school premises and contents are properly maintained, secured and ready for use as well as helping to ensure that the school is clean and tidy. Support from the DoNESC Estates Team will be available when required.
The hours worked are 15 hours per week, split across both schools at Tacolneston and Morley. Previously this has been 2 hours daily at Morley and 1 hour daily at Tacolneston but the arrangement of the days and hours is flexible by agreement with the Executive Headteacher. There is a 24-hour responsibility to respond to premises security issues. However, keyholding, opening and lock-up is shared among senior staff at both schools and therefore is not a daily task at both schools for the caretaker.
The successful applicant will have a good knowledge of the basic principles of site management, the ability to work with minimum supervision and resolve problems independently and the ability to carry out cleaning, maintenance and manual tasks as detailed in the job description.
Tacolneston and Morley Primaries are lovely caring schools just South and West of Wymondham. Both schools are forward-looking and ambitious, and have recently judged ‘Good’ by Ofsted (February 2025 and May 2025). We have a committed staff, and the support of St Benets Multi-Academy Trust and the DoNESC Estates Team. Both schools have relatively large grounds with excellent play equipment, playgrounds and school fields. Both schools have parts of the buildings dating back to the Victorian era, which have been extended and improved over the years; the latest being excellent modern buildings at Morley constructed in 2021 which house the Hall and infant classes.
Visits to the school are warmly welcomed. Please contact the school office to book an appointment or speak with the Headteacher at Tacolneston - tacolneston@tacmor.stbenets.org
