Casual Food Preparation Assistant
Hours of work: By negotiation and agreement during term time. Typically, a session would be any time between 7.30am – 3pm
Ormiston Shelfield Community Academy is an exciting and dynamic place to work. We are an oversubscribed secondary academy with over 1400 students on roll at Key Stages 3-5. Our core drivers of Outcomes, Values and Choices are at the heart of our daily actions and interactions and we pride ourselves on building strong relationships based on mutual respect, at all levels.
We are looking to recruit a Casual Food Preparation Assistant to:
Provide support to the Catering Manager, Deputy Catering Manager and Cook in ensuring the day to day provision of quality catering services within the academy, in an efficient, safe and hygienic manner
- Undertake the basic preparation of food maintaining a high standard of hygiene at all times
- Undertake the preparation of the dining room
- Undertake the serving of meals and waiting at tables as and when required
- Undertake general cleaning duties within the academy where appropriate, in a safe and efficient manner including: general tidying, sweeping and mopping of floors, cleaning of gullies, ovens, floors, boilers, hot cupboards, sinks, toilets, sluices, servery, dining room and tables. General laundry
- Undertake till duties as required
- Operate and store all equipment and cleaning materials in a safe, efficient and economical manner
- Promote and comply with the academy’s Equal Opportunities Policy at all times, treating all students and staff in a fair and equal manner giving consideration to individual’s cultural values
- Observe and comply with all Health, Safety and Fire regulations and procedures as laid down in the Health and Safety at Work Act and Academy Policies at all times
As part of your wider duties and responsibilities, you are required to promote and actively support the Academy’s responsibilities towards safeguarding.
