Casual Midday Supervisory Assistant job summary

This is a casual role which means that we will call you as and when we need your support to provide the correct staffing levels for a successful lunchtime.

Are you a kind, caring person who enjoys playing games with children and talking to them while helping them to enjoy their lunchtime in a safe and calm environment?

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Midday Supervisory Assistant (MSA) who has a passion for supporting children to have an fun and enjoyable lunchtime. Working as part of a team you will ensure that the dining area is prepared for lunch and then cleared away afterwards. You will support the children with eating their lunch and supervise them when in the playground. Many of the children enjoy playing games while some enjoy a bit of quiet time and it is expected that you will support the children in their choice of activity.

You need to have an understanding of how to manage children who are struggling with lunchtime and possibly displaying dis-regulated behavior but training will be provided.

Experience: This will include working in an environment where there are children and young people, knowledge of basic hygiene procedures, knowledge of basic first aid but not essential as training will be given.

Physical effort: You need to be of normal fitness so that moving some chairs and tables is not causing you any difficulty. You need to be fit enough to play energetic games with the children in the playground. You will also be on your feet for the duration of your shift which could between 1 hour 20 mins and 1 hour 45 mins.

It is imperative that you have a good standard of English, both written and spoken, because you need to be able to communicate effectively with adults and children, but also model good language when talking to the children.
