We have a fantastic opportunity for a Casual Minibus Drivers to join LEO Academy Trust. Working on a casual basis, you will provide vital support by ensuring our pupils and staff travel safely and comfortably to offsite events, whilst maintaining the high standards expected across our Trust.
The Role
As part of a small team of minibus drivers for the Trust, you will step in as a casual minibus driver as and when required. Your paramount responsibility is the safety of your passengers, ensuring you drive the Trust's minibuses in a responsible and competent manner.
Key duties include:
- Safely transporting children and staff, as and when required, to and from offsite events.
- Safely loading children on the minibus and ensuring seatbelts are worn at all times.
- Taking responsibility for the safety, comfort and welfare of pupils and staff and offering assistance where appropriate.
- Carrying out daily, pre-journey vehicle checks and basic maintenance (checking fuel, water and oil levels, tyres, lights etc.).
- Reporting any vehicle defects, faults, incidents and accidents to the Trust Minibus Fleet Manager.
- Ensuring the vehicle is in a clean and roadworthy condition before and after use, and refuelling the vehicles as required.
- Working within the constraints and guidelines as set out in the Trust’s Driving For Work Policy, including enforcing safety protocols such as the use of seatbelts and adherence to speed limits.
- Checking the first aid box on the minibus ensuring it is up to date and advising the Trust Minibus Fleet Manager when used.
- Covering for absent colleagues.
What You Will Bring
We are searching for patient, helpful, and highly reliable individuals who genuinely enjoy working within a school environment.
Essential Criteria:
- Age 25+ (for insurance purposes).
- Hold a current, valid driving licence D1 unrestricted or a PCV licence or D1 restricted (car licence obtained prior to 01/01/1997) - you must have held this for at least 2 years..
- Geographical knowledge of the local area.
- Competent to undertake vehicle checks and carry out basic maintenance.
- Pleasant, patient and helpful personality, with an ability to communicate with a range of different people.
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
- Reliable and trustworthy with a flexible approach to working arrangements.
- Good organisational ability.
- Experience driving a large vehicle is desirable.
