Your Role in Building Brighter FuturesAs a Teaching Assistant at Saltford C of E Primary School you will play a key role in contributing to the delivery of Futura’s mission statement of “Building the brightest future for all, enabling every individual to flourish”. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about living our values and making a positive impact on all the young people in our Trust.

As a Teaching Assistant you will be providing:

Support for Pupils:

  • Supervise and support pupils to ensure their safety and access to learning.
  • Build constructive relationships with pupils, acting as a role model.
  • Encourage the inclusion and participation of all pupils.
  • Support pupils based on their individual needs, promoting their independence and self-esteem.
  • Assist in the use of ICT in learning activities and help develop pupils' competence in its use.
  • Monitor and evaluate pupils’ progress and provide feedback to the teacher.
  • Promote cooperative learning, ensuring that pupils interact and engage with one another.

Support for Teachers:

  • Assist in developing and implementing Individual Education/Behaviour Plans.
  • Establish relationships with external agencies to support the achievement and progress of pupils.
  • Supervise the class when the teacher works with small groups of children.
  • Support the teacher in planning, evaluating, and adjusting lessons.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers, providing updates on pupil progress.
  • Provide administrative support including producing worksheets and maintaining classroom displays.

Support for the Curriculum:

  • Contribute to the delivery of national learning strategies, including literacy and numeracy.
  • Support skills development through a variety of learning activities.
  • Prepare and maintain classroom resources, both general and specialist.

Support for the School:

  • Supervise pupils during out-of-class activities, such as lunchtimes and trips.
  • Administer routine tests and invigilate exams.
  • Ensure that health and safety guidelines are followed.

What You’ll Bring to FuturaWe are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support the educational and development needs of pupils in our primary school. Working under the supervision of the class teacher and/or SENCO, you will assist in the organisation and maintenance of classroom resources, contribute to the welfare and safety of pupils, and engage in supporting children’s learning activities. The role is crucial in promoting an inclusive learning environment and fostering the development of all pupils, including those with additional needs.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Good standard of education, with at least 5 GCSEs (including English and Maths, grade C or above).
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience supporting pupils in a classroom setting, ideally with experience in supporting children with additional needs.
  • Understanding of child development, learning processes, and barriers to learning.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with both pupils and adults.
  • Strong IT skills and the ability to use technology to support learning.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience:

  • NVQ Level 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent.
  • Qualified First Aider.
  • Experience of contributing to pupil reviews and reports, such as EHC plans or PSPs.
