Springwood High School are seeking to appoint 2 Catering Assistants to join their Catering team.
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: Scale A, Point 2, £12.65/hour
Hours: 20 hours/week, 38 weeks/year
Monday to Friday: 10.30am to 2.30pm

Purpose of the Job
To participate in the catering provision as agreed with the Catering Manager.
NB This may include the handling of all foods within the catering section and the preparation of dishes/food items for service.
Responsibilities, but not limited to:
· To participate in the preparation of food items or batch baking in line with the day’s menu.
· To participate in the care and the cleaning of the kitchen areas, dining room and equipment as required.
· To serve meals, and to give attention to tables when necessary.
· To process payments efficiently via the schools cashless catering facility.
· Support delivery and transportation of food, equipment and supplies as required.
· To talk to the pupils, staff & visitors as appropriate – Assist in guiding their choice of menu items and increase awareness of foods. In particular where dietary requirements need to be factored into pupil decisions.
· To assist in stock rotation, inventory checks and ordering of supplies as directed by the catering Manager.
· To cooperate with the Catering Manager with regard to compliance with all food safety legislation relating to the catering industry, with all Health & safety legislation and with the rules, regulations etc.
· Set up and break down buffet areas and event spaces as directed.
· Ensure food is attractively presented and replenished as directed by the catering Manager.
· To wear appropriate clothing as required by the Catering Manager.
· In addition, any other reasonable duties as requested by the Catering Manager.
Skills and Qualifications
· Previous experience in catering, hospitality or food service (preferred but not essential).
· Strong communication and customer services skills.
· Previous experience working within education (preferred but not essential).
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple tasks under pressure.
· Basic understanding of food Hygiene and safety practices
· Ability to lift and carry items including food trays and equipment.
· Flexibility to work occasional hours outside of normal working hours if/when required (school events, open evening’s etc)
