Catering Assistant

📍 Location: Ellesmere Park High School
💰 Salary: £10,219.81 - £10,242.27
⏳ Contract and Working Pattern: Permanent 17.5 hours per week, Term Time only
📅 Start Date: February 2026

At Ellesmere Park High School, our motto Vibrant, Inclusive, Proud isn’t just something we say — it’s something you feel the moment you walk through the door. As two of our Year 10 students recently shared:

“From our first day in Year 7 to now, we’ve experienced nothing but a welcoming community who are always there to support you. Whenever you ask a student or staff member what their favourite part of school is, their answer will always be the people.— Abigail & Mae, Year 10

We are now looking for a Catering Assistant to join our friendly catering team and play an important role in the day-to-day life of our school. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people and wants to be part of a warm, supportive school community.

About the role

As a Catering Assistant at Ellesmere Park High School, you will help create a positive and welcoming lunchtime experience for our students and staff. You’ll be part of a close-knit team that takes pride in providing a high-quality service in a busy but friendly environment. Your work will help ensure that lunchtimes run smoothly and that students feel cared for and supported throughout the school day.

This is a practical, hands-on role where teamwork, reliability and a positive attitude really matter. No two days are the same, and you’ll be supported to develop your skills, including food hygiene training where needed.

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Enjoys working as part of a team in a busy environment
  • Takes pride in maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety
  • Is friendly, approachable and professional with students and colleagues
  • Is reliable, flexible and keen to learn

Previous experience in catering or a school setting is helpful but not essential — we’re more interested in the right attitude and a willingness to get involved.

Why join Ellesmere Park High School?

  • A welcoming, supportive school where people genuinely enjoy coming to work
  • Polite, respectful students who value the relationships they build with staff
  • A strong culture of care, inclusion and wellbeing for both students and staff
  • A term-time only role that fits well around school hours

As one member of staff said after joining the school:
“From my very first visit, I was struck by how warm and welcoming everyone was. Staff support each other, students are polite and engaged, and it truly feels like a community.”
