Catering Assistant job summary

Edgar Wood Academy is seeking a reliable, enthusiastic, and hardworking Catering Assistant to join our friendly kitchen team. This role is essential to ensuring students and staff enjoy a positive dining experience each day.

As a Catering Assistant, you will be involved in a range of kitchen duties including food preparation, cooking, serving meals, and maintaining excellent hygiene standards. You’ll work under the direction of the Catering Manager and play an important role in supporting the smooth running of breakfast, break, and lunch service.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys working as part of a team, takes pride in their work, and has a passion for preparing and serving fresh, healthy food.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare, cook, and present food to a high standard in accordance with food hygiene regulations and school food standards.

Support food and drink preparation for breakfast, break, and lunch service.

Operate the till and serve students and staff in a friendly, efficient manner.

Assist with cleaning of kitchen areas, surfaces, and equipment as part of the daily cleaning schedule.

Ensure the kitchen is clean and ready for the next day’s service.

Support catering for school events and meetings when required.

Replenish food items and communicate stock needs to the Catering Manager.

Promote healthy eating and demonstrate high standards of customer service and care.

Adhere to health and safety regulations at all times.

Be flexible in supporting events outside of regular working hours if required.
