Catering Assistant job summary

Orton Wistow Primary School, part of the OWN Trust, are looking to appoint an individual to support our busy kitchen team during our lunchtime period.

The role will include but is not limited to:

- The basic preparation of food

- Assisting with the setting up of servery counters

- Assisting with the setting up and cleaning of the lunchtime hall tables

- Serving children, staff, parents and visitors during the lunchtime service

- Pot washing along with general cleaning of the kitchen and associated areas.

We currently operate a staggered lunchtime service for our pupils, starting at midday through to 1.40pm, therefore this is a fast paced role and the ideal candidate will be have good timekeeping and the ability to work as part of a team and independently. Good communication and organisational skills are also essential.

Previous experience of working in a kitchen capacity within a school or similar setting is desirable but not essential.

Since the school was built in 1988 to accommodate 200 pupils, we have had 2 ambitious building projects to accommodate the increase in our numbers. As a result of these changes we now have a stunning schools with wonderful indoor and outdoor facilities.

Orton Wistow is a popular, over subscribed school and benefits from a consistent roll despite the fact that we have a relatively small catchment area.
