Your Role in Building Brighter Futures
As a Catering Assistant at St Johns School, you will play a key role in contributing to the delivery of Futura’s mission statement of “Building the brightest future for all, enabling every individual to flourish”. As a Catering Assistant, you will be responsible to:
Assist in food preparation, ensuring high presentation standards and proper stock rotation.
Monitor and maintain clean, well-stocked service areas (cutlery, disposables, equipment) prior to service.
Deliver friendly, personal service aimed at achieving total customer satisfaction and minimizing complaints.
Actively contribute to sales efforts through effective selling techniques and attractive display management.
Work collaboratively with colleagues, support team members, and attend training/briefings as required.
Maintain a clean, tidy appearance, punctuality, and adherence to uniform standards.
Comply with all statutory and company health, hygiene, fire, and safety regulations; report issues and follow cleaning schedules.
Adhere to cash handling and security protocols, reporting any concerns to the Catering Manager.
Attend meetings, training sessions, and other events as required while maintaining confidentiality and upholding data protection and safeguarding standards.
Flexibly work across locations as needed, ensuring all Trust and Zest Catering standards are met.
What You’ll Bring to Futura
We are seeking to appoint a reliable and committed individual with:
A sound level of secondary education with a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (at least desirable, if not essential).
Previous catering experience, preferably within a school or college setting.
Knowledge of health and safety practices and good hygiene standards in a kitchen environment.
A positive, reliable, and energetic approach with a commitment to teamwork and continuous professional development.
Excellent spoken communication skills, ability to work both independently and under pressure, and capability to perform physically demanding tasks.
